Strategic Shift Benefits Accounting Practice

Inspired Business Solutions had been operating from its leased Queen Street premises for 16 years. Management was investigating whether its offices were going to continue to suit their needs or whether they should move.

The company engaged Parallel Directions to perform a review of their future property needs matched to their business plan.

Practice Manager, Delwyn Connell, says the process they embarked on was hugely beneficial.

"The format Parallel Directions uses enabled us to systematically work through our needs, strategy and options."

Delwyn says she and the company's directors were able to clearly and objectively assess the benefits of moving versus staying in their old premises.

"In the end, we identified it would be best for us to move."

Parallel Directions facilitated the hunt for new premises and negotiated the lease, organised the fit-out of the new offices and the shift.

Delwyn says this saved Inspired Business Solutions a great deal of time and money.

"It was great to have a company with extensive experience in commercial real estate facilitate this process."

She says having Parallel Directions negotiate the lease and fit-out of the new offices also made a huge difference.

"There was a lot of going to and fro with the new landlords as we had our own architects involved and wanted a layout for our offices that was different to the standard in the building. Parallel Direction's CEO, Peter Scott, was able to manage this negotiation effectively, and so the landlord was happy that the high standard of his building was being maintained, and we were getting our design needs met."

Parallel Directions also advised on office furnishings and managed the physical shift into the new premises.

Delwyn says Inspired Business Solutions staff of 14 is very happy in the new offices.

"As part of the process with Parallel Directions, we worked out how to structure where our teams were located, what their needs were, and added enough extra work stations to accommodate future growth. We also now sublet a work station to a contractor."

Inspired Business Solutions have found the whole process has worked out incredibly well.

"We are now in a better quality building and have an office set up that completely meets our needs.
